Andros Townsend (Tottenham Hotspur)
Andros Townsend is in the unusual position of having played better for his country than he has for his club all season.
Despite having attempted 54 shots in his 11 starts and seven substitute appearances this term, the Tottenham Hotspur winger has only scored once – a cross against Aston Villa that sailed into the net.
Derided as an Arjen Robben-lite due to his tendency to cut inside from the right and blast the ball at goal using his left foot, Townsend has actually played very well indeed when selected for England, proving rather less predictable.
He started competitive matches against Moldova and Ukraine to help England qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, helping the Three Lions break out of their half thanks to impressive running with the ball, and scored his first international goal against the latter with a fine swerving right footed (!) strike.
Still, his mediocre performances at club level compared to his rivals on the right wing are a concern, and Townsend will be fighting for his place in what may be a final chance to impress Roy Hodgson.
