After scoring his first two goals for England in Sunday’s 3-2 win over Euro 2016 qualification rivals Slovenia, Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere set his sights on many more.
The 23-year-old midfielder failed to hit the net in his first 27 senior international appearances England for England.
His record at club level is far from prolific – just six goals in 100 Premier League games for Arsenal.
Nevertheless, Wilshere is desperate to get the goals flowing for England, citing Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Paul Scholes as midfielders he can emulate.

Wilshere told reporters: “It’s obviously nice to get my first goals for England, they have been a long time coming. I probably wouldn’t have had a shot for the second one if I hadn’t already scored, but after I’d scored one I had more confidence.
“I have said that I need to score more goals, it is something I need to add to my game. Lampard, Gerrard and Scholes have done that for England.”
Chelsea legend Lampard scored 29 goals in 106 England games. Gerrard notched 21 in 114, while Scholes bagged 14 in 66. All three players are now retired from international duty.
