Sky Sports pundit Neville admits Hart should have done better.
England coach Gary Neville reluctantly criticised Joe Hart’s after a nightmare evening for the Manchester City goalkeeper in the 3-1 defeat against Bayern Munich.
Hart, 26, was at fault for Bayern’s first and third goals, as Pep Guardiola’s men thoroughly outclassed City at the Etihad Stadium.
Neville, a pundit for Sky Sports as well as a member of Roy Hodgson’s backroom staff, has been questioned by presenters Richard Keys and Gary Lineker in recent weeks, with both feeling the former Manchester United and England right back is unable to effectively perform his dual role as critic and coach.
But Neville did admit that England goalkeeper Hart had a poor game, questioning the former Shrewsbury player after Franck Ribery’s opener.
“It’s the power of the shot. He’s got to do better there, Joe Hart, beaten at his near post. It just goes through his hand. It’s not the start Manchester city wanted or the goalkeeper,” Neville said on Sky Sports.
In reference to Hart’s reaction to Robben’s goal, Neville said: “You have to say Joe Hart’s got to do better again at that near post. That’s twice he’s been beaten there tonight. He’ll be disappointed again.”
