Three Lions regular keen to make next summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
Manchester City midfield player Gareth Barry is sweating over his long-term future at the Etihad stadium, according to reports in the Sun.
The England international has been at Eastlands for four years now since joining the mega-rich Premier League club from Aston Villa for £12 million.
However, the 32-year-old’s current deal at City expires in June of next year and as yet, the club have failed to approach Barry about starting talks over a new long-term deal that would see the utility player end his career in Manchester.
For the most part, Barry has been a resounding success at City, featuring in a total of 166 matches since 2009, and finding the back of the net on eight occasions during that period.
But, with the player still believed to harbour dreams of representing his country at next summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil, he will be keen to ensure he is not made surplus to requirements at City this summer.
