CM – Fabian Delph (7.5) – The Villa player’s competitive debut got off to a shaky start, but once he grew into the game Delph was excellent.
CM – Jordan Henderson (7) – The sort of display that Henderson regularly puts in for his club – neat on the ball and tireless out of possession.
ACM – Raheem Sterling (7) – Wasteful for much of the match, Sterling remained a constant threat to the Swiss defence and provided a fine assist for the first goal.
