SC) Danny Welbeck – 5 – Surprisingly subdued stuff from Welbeck, who failed to run in behind and displayed a first touch that was a long way from its best.
SC) Wayne Rooney – 5 – Despite a fine free-kick to win the game, Rooney lacked pace and incisiveness and his first touch was often awful.
SUB) Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 6 – Introduced for Delph and offered a little more pace and forward movement than the Villa man.
