21. Daniel Sturridge
For Liverpool, Daniel Sturridge is one of the best strikers in the Premier League at present.
For England, he is yet to find his true value, but the former Manchester City and Chelsea forward has backed himself to succeed wherever he has played, and few doubt he will do the same with England.
Despite being over a year older than Danny Welbeck, Sturridge has less than half the caps of the Manchester United forward at time of writing, and perhaps the 24 year-old’s career stalled somewhat at his last two teams.
Sturridge is the most direct forward in the England side though, with the confidence to both run at an opposition defence and shoot from anywhere.
If Sturridge can improve his right foot beyond being a mere ballast to his favoured left, and start to play with his head up rather than attract criticisms regarding greed, he could complete an England front three full of poise, movement, intelligence, trickery – and goals.
If he performs that dance again though, we’re shooting ourselves.
