Kyle Walker may have a good understanding with Andros Townsend, but he doesn’t have a good understanding of defending.
The Tottenham Hotspur right back is often caught out of position, and while he is able to make up for it with his pace, that won’t be the case against the best wingers in the world.
Liverpool’s Glen Johnson has become a much more solid option in recent seasons, and also offers more in attack.
Walker can also get stuck down blind alleys, and is very one footed. Johnson is a better dribbler and crosser, and is comfortable with his left foot.
