New Zealand were declared winners by nine runs against England via the Duckworth-Lewis method after rain intervened in the World Twenty20 Group One match in Chittagong on Saturday.
Chasing 173 to win, New Zealand were 52-1 after 5.2 overs when heavy rain followed a series of thunderclaps at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury stadium.
New Zealand needed 43 in 5.2 overs under the D/L mathod, which deals with rain-affected matches.
Kane Willamson was unbeaten on 24 and skipper Brendon McCullum was batting on 16 when rain put an early end to the match.
England had put up a challenging 172-6 in their 20 overs with Moeen Ali (36), Michael Lumb (33) and Jos Butler (32) among the runs.
