Southampton’s Shaw thinks the Saints can continue their great run.
Southampton starlet Luke Shaw has been in great form this season and the 18-year-old thinks that the team are ready to take on Arsenal and Chelsea in the Premier League.
The Saints face the Gunners in their next clash in the English top flight at the Emirates Stadium and then travel to Stamford Bridge the following weekend.
Yet with the best defensive record in the division and a position of third in the table, Shaw thinks the club are ready for the challenge.
“The next two games we have got coming up will show whereabouts we are and whether we can challenge for the top,” the teenager was quoted by ITV.
“If you take points from there, you know you are doing well.
“It is two of the biggest clubs in the league and hopefully we are going to go there positive to pick up points.”
Shaw has emerged as one of the top young English talents in the past two seasons, after breaking into the first team at St Mary’s.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino got the full-back to commit to a five-year deal when turning 18 after interest from some of the biggest sides in the country.
This however has not stopped Shaw being linked with a move away, but with Pochettino’s men playing so well at the moment it would seem foolish for the defender to leave.
Although the battle for the left-back spot for the national team is currently between Leighton Baines and Ashley Cole, Shaw is billed to be the future.
