Anderson overtook Botham’s impressive haul with the dismissal of opener BJ in Sunday’s defeat to New Zealand. He now has 529 wickets to his name in all forms of the game and at 30-years-old, should go on to further increase that total.
The Burnley-born swing bowler made his debut for England in Melbourne in 2002, but didn’t find his world-beating form until 2010. He has since taken 228 Test wickets and 223 in ODIs. The introduction of the Twenty20 game has of course helped Anderson’s bowling stats, but that is to take nothing away from his new record.
