Carlisle is in danger of missing Essendon’s elimination final after injuring himself in training.
Essendon forward Jake Carlisle is expected to be sidelined for up to two weeks after suffering a slight hamstring strain.
The 22 year-old was sent for scans after complaining of tightness during training.
Bombers general manager football performance Neil Craig said in a statement that Carlisle remained upbeat despite the setback
“Jake’s a fierce competitor and he’s clearly frustrated by this latest injury,” Craig said.
“Jake pulled up a little tight during a training drill and scans revealed he’d strained his hamstring. On the positive side of things we are fortunate the strain is on the minor scale.”
“Knowing Jake and the professional standards he demands of himself, he’ll be doing everything to make sure he’s back out contributing to the team as soon as possible.”
Essendon face Carlton on Saturday, and need a win to be certain of a seventh-placed finish.
