Carlisle pinched a nerve in his neck and was suffering from some discomfort, but the Bombers say he remains in contention to face North Melbourne on Friday.
Essendon confirmed Carlisle was sent for scans at the Epworth Hospital in Richmond.
“Jake Carlisle remains in contention to play against North Melbourne after being cleared of an injury he sustained during training yesterday,” a statement read.
“Carlisle pinched a nerve in his neck and despite suffering some discomfort he has recovered well today.
“The club’s medical team exercised all necessary precautions to treat and determine the extent of the injury, which included sending Carlisle for scans at the Epworth Hospital.”
The Bombers face the Kangaroos at Etihad Stadium on Friday, with both sides looking to leapfrog the other on the ladder.
Essendon and North Melbourne share 3-3 records following mixed starts to the season, and it will be interesting to see just how the Bombers react following the news of WADA’s intention to appeal the AFL anti-doping tribunal’s not guilty verdict.
