The Blues view the Cameroonian as an alternative to Wayne Rooney.
Samuel Eto’o’s agent has warned Chelsea the striker won’t leave Anzhi Makhachkala for anything less than £300,000-a-week.
The 32-year-old is being considered by Blues boss Jose Mourinho as an alternative to Wayne Rooney should he fail in his attempts to poach the want-away forward from Manchester United this summer after having two bids rejected already.
Anzhi have told Eto’o he is free to leave during the transfer window as the Russian club look to trim their wage bill and it’s understood the Cameroon international is open to a move to the west London club and reuniting with Mourinho, whom he server under at Inter Milan
However, a potential stumbling block is his yearly salary and despite being prepared to slash his £350,000-per-week demands, representative Peppino Terri insists he won’t play ball should it mean a substantial reduction in his earnings.
“There is interest in Samuel, we know that,” Terri informed the Metro.
“But he will not leave Anzhi for less than £300,000-a-week.”
It’s unlikely Chelsea will be willing to fork out such a figure for a player in his thirties, especially with the addition of a £5million fee on top.
