Manchester United are not giving up their pursuit of a £25m deal for Everton full-back Seamus Coleman, but it seems Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is intent on keeping his star put in the January window.

Reports in the Daily Express carry quotes from Martinez, who has seemingly ruled out a move away from Goodison Park for the Republic of Ireland international anytime soon.
“For me that’s nothing,” Martinez said. “There is nothing for me to comment really, I haven’t seen that, I have no recollection of that.
“As you can imagine what we want at the football club is to build something special and to make us stronger so the last thing we want to do is lose important players so no there has been no contact.”
United have also been tracking Borussia Dortmund centre half Mats Hummels and Aston Villa’s Ron Vlaar with Van Gaal pondering another major foray when the window reopens, as he attempts to bolster an injury-ravaged defence.
