Toffees are already putting in plans for the new season.
New Everton head coach Roberto Martinez hopes to shortly make Wigan Athletic defender Antolin Alcaraz his first signing since replacing David Moyes in the Goodison Park hot seat, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.
The experienced Paraguay international has been at the DW stadium for the past three seasons now, having been brought to the Latics by Martinez from Belgium giants Brugge for an undisclosed fee in May 2010.
And in the intervening three-year period the 30-year-old has proved himself to be an excellent and reliable centre back, despite Wigan and the foot of the table and finally succumbing to relegation to the Championship this term.
However, the central defender was only able to appear in eight Premier League fixtures for Wigan last season, which was a contributing factor ultimately in the club being relegated from the Premier League, although now his former boss wants to take the player with him to Merseyside on a free contract when the summer transfer window opens on July 1.
