Latics are standing firm over price of want-away forward.
Wigan Athletic front man Arouna Kone is said to be determined to push through his summer move to Everton in order to be reunited with former Latics head coach Roberto Martinez next season, reports the Daily Mirror.
The Ivory Coast international has been attracting interest from a whole host of Premier League suitors following Wigan’s relegation to the Championship at the end of last season, with the likes of Swansea City, Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion all also reportedly keen on signing the striker.
However, it is understood that the 29-year-old only has his heart set on a move to Goodison Park, although the Toffees will need to meet the full value of the player’s £6.5 million release clause in his current contract at the DW stadium in order to land the player, which as yet they have failed to do so.
Kone enjoyed a fine start to life in English football last season having been brought to Wigan from Levante by Martinez for just 3.5m euros, netting 13 goals in his 38 matches in all competitions for the struggling club.
