Everton manager Roberto Martinez has been linked with a move for a talented young Dutch midfielder.
According to reports in the Mirror, Everton are planning an early summer move into the transfer market by trying to seal a deal for Dutch midfielder Hakim Ziyech from Heerenveen.
Manager Roberto Martinez is a keen admirer of the 21 year-old flyer and has had him watched on several occasions, but the report now suggests that the Spaniard is ready to test the waters with an official bid of around £2.5 million for Ziyech.
Ziyech, who had been touted as a possible surprise inclusion in the Holland squad for the World Cup, enjoyed an impressive campaign for Heerenveen as he impressed a number of visiting scouts with his tricky play in the attacking midfield position.
With Aiden McGeady at the club and Gerard Deulofeu having enjoyed a successful loan spell, it is clear that Martinez likes his attacking midfielders and is willing to accommodate them within a flexible tactical system.
The report does exercise caution for Everton fans, however, as Dutch giants Ajax and PSV Eindhoven are also both believed to be fans of Ziyech. At a small price and with the potential to improve, however, he represents the kind of signing that Martinez must make due to the budgetary constraints that exist at Goodison Park.
