Talented youngster linked with move to Goodison Park.
Everton are reportedly set to step up their interest in Juventus midfielder Luca Marrone as a replacement for Marouane Fellaini, if the Belgian decides to join Manchester United.
The 23-year-old was used sparingly by Bianconeri coach Antonio Conte last season, making just 10 appearances despite being tipped for a bright future with the club.
However, with competition for places already strong in midfield with the likes of Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal, Paul Pogba and Claudio Marchisio, Marrone has grown into a more versatile role within the squad filling in at various positions.
That may soon change though after reports in the English press on Thursday suggested that Marrone would be targeted by Everton, as they line up a replacement for the potential departure of Fellaini.
The Belgian international has been linked with a reunion with former boss David Moyes at Old Trafford this summer, which would leave new manager Roberto Martinez with a role to fill in his squad.
According to the The Sun, they believe that the talented youngster is already in talks with the Toffees over a potential move as reported by Football Italia, and it remains to be seen whether or not Fellaini decides to leave.
The defensive midfielder has made almost 30 appearances for the Italian Under-21 side, but it is believed that if he is to continue his development, the Old Lady are willing to listen to offers to allow him receive regular playing time.
With the expected emergence of Pogba this season it is doubtful Conte will hand the midfielder regular football, thus opening up the possibility of following Emanuele Giaccherini to England this summer.
