West Ham are showing ambition in the transfer market this summer and are believed to be closing in on a double deal for Juventus defender Angelo Ogbonna and Gunners full-back Carl Jenkinson.
But another Arsenal alumnus will not be moving to Upton Park because Vela is believed to have rejected a return to the Premier League with their London rivals.
Vela has scored 51 goals in 126 La Liga games for Sociedad. He managed only 11 in his six years at the Emirates Stadium, although he only started 18 matches in all competitions.
