The Magpies are on the lookout for a replacement for Alan Pardew, who recently quit St James’ Park to take over at Crystal Palace, and Benitez could be one of their more ambitious options.
The Spanish tactician has won a number of major honours in his career so far, including the Champions League and FA Cup with Liverpool, plus the Europa League in a brief stint at Stamford Bridge.
Benitez has recently been linked with a return to Liverpool, and may be keen to leave Napoli to come back to the Premier League.
