Mario Melchiot’s career might be over, but the rivalry with Arsenal never ends.
Retired Chelsea star Mario Melchiot has vivid memories of coming up short against Arsenal during his time at Stamford Bridge, so he decided to poke some fun at Arsene Wenger‘s latest trophy-winning struggles.
Taking to Twitter to comment on Italian outfit Parma are putting their eight trophies up for auction to pay off their bankruptcy, Melchiot brilliantly trolled Wenger with a not-so-subtle shot at the Arsenal boss’s recent Premier League struggles.
After going bankrupt Parma have resorted to selling old trophies to raise money. Very sad. But great news for Wenger #jokes #mmlove

While Melchiot certainly earned some high fives from his fellow Blues with that shot at Wenger, it somewhat belies the fact that Wenger has won more trophies than Jose Mourinho in the last two years, capturing four titles (2x FA Cup, 2x FA Community Shield) since Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile, the Special One has won two trophies (1x Premier League, 1x Football League Cup) since his return to Chelsea.
Though Arsene Wenger still needs to end the Gunners’ Premier League title drought, his trophy case isn’t exactly lacking for content.
