The Barcelona forward is banned for nine competitive matches after biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup in Brazil this summer, and Uruguay coach Oscar Tabarez doesn’t want his side to become too reliant on the prolific front-man.
With Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani available as well as Hull City summer signing Abel Hernandez, Uruguay certainly should be able to cope without the La Liga star.
Suarez will be ineligible for the Copa America next year, so Tabarez wants to make sure the team are used to playing without him. He has insisted that when the ban is lifted that he will come straight back into the side however.
