Former NHL defensman Steve Montador was found dead at his home this weekend, police have confirmed to USA Today.

The 35-year-old’s death is not being treated as suspicious or criminal, a spokesperson has said, though there will be an autopsy to determine the cause.
Montador’s family have asked for privacy after this ‘devastating news’, while his former club Chicago Blackhaws paid tribute to the player.
“With deep sadness we mourn the unfortunate loss of former Blackhawk Steve Montador,” the Blackhawks said in a statement.
“We join the many others throughout the NHL in keeping Steve’s family and friends in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
