Seattle Seahawks defensive end Cliff Avril is the latest player on the team to sign a contract extension, ensuring that the Seahawks will remain one of the elite defensive teams for years to come.
Shortly after linebacker K.J. Wright signed a four-year extension, Avril did the same by signing an extension worth $28.5 million. $16 million of this money is guaranteed.
In addition to the secondary, the Seahawks have their two bookend defensive ends locked up for the next several years with Michael Bennett and Avril to provide a pass rush.
Avril posted eight sacks in 2013. Despite only having 4.5 this season, he has provided a relentless pass rush.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network announced the Seahawks’ latest contract extension on Twitter.
#Seahawks have signed pass-rusher Cliff Avril to a 4-year extension worth $28.5M with $16M guaranteed, source says.
