St. Louis Rams punter Johnny Hekker has been a consistent force for his team, and he has given them an added bonus by being able to execute a fake punt play twice.
Hekker used to play quarterback in high school, so his throwing skills have come in handy on trick plays. The Rams were able to seal an upset win over the Seattle Seahawks earlier in the season after Hekker converted on a fourth-down play with a pass.
The Rams have rewarded his reliable play with a contract extension worth $18 million over six years, and $9 million of this money will be guaranteed, making Hekker the highest-paid punter in NFL history.
Here is a tweet from the official NFL on ESPN Twitter account announcing this historic extension.
