The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense has been a big part of their woes this season, but defensive tackle Gerald McCoy is a player no fan would blame for their struggles.
McCoy has established himself as one of the elite defensive tackles in the league since registering 9.5 sacks last season. The Buccaneers rewarded McCoy for his value to the defense by giving him a seven-year, $98 million contract extension.
The defensive tackle’s new contract includes $51.5 million in guaranteed money, which will make him the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history.
Here is a tweet from the official Buccaneers Twitter account of a picture of McCoy shaking hands with general manager Jason Licht after signing his deal.
