Sunderland to miss out on Italy international.
Italian striker Fabio Borini has joined up with his Liverpool teammates on their pre-season tour of the United States, despite being heavily linked with a summer move to Sunderland.
The Black Cats had a bid of around £14m accepted for the 23-year-old earlier this week.
However, his decision to travel to America seems to suggest that he is not interested in signing for the Wearside club, according to Sky Sports.
Borini spent last season on loan at Sunderland, scoring 10 goals in 40 games.
A permanent return to the Stadium of Light now looks unlikely though.
Borini’s chances of getting first-team football at Anfield appeared to be boosted when Luis Suarez moved to Barcelona for £75m.
However, the Reds are close to signing Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy as a replacement for the Uruguayan.
Remy is in talks with Liverpool after his £8.5m release clause was triggered.
