The Colombian international has only scored four goals all season for the Red Devils, but may have done enough to convince manager Louis van Gaal that he is worth giving another chance.
With Javier Hernandez looking surely like leaving the club after spending this season on loan at Real Madrid and also struggling to impress, United will be in need of depth upfront.
Robin van Persie has been another poor performer and it may be that he will also be heading for the Old Trafford exit door, though many will be surprised that Falcao has done enough to be considered for a place in the squad.
The 29-year-old would cost around £43.5m, an asking price the club are hoping will be lowered.
