What springs to mind when somebody says the name Wes Morgan? Power? Strength? Thighs!? What about pace?
Arsenal star Theo Walcott is the fastest player on FIFA 16. We reported this back in September. Just in case you don’t believe us, The Telegraph reported it too!

Despite EA Sports – the creators of FIFA 16 – giving Walcott world-beating game stats for speed, figures in the EA Sports Player Performance Index state that the Gunners man has not even been among the top 10 quickest Premier League stars so far this season.
The Mirror used data from the Premier League’s official player rating index on Sunday to reveal which players have posted the top 10 speeds during games in the 2015-16 campaign – prior to Monday’s clash between Swansea City and Stoke City.
Leicester City dominated the list, with five members of Claudio Ranieri’s side registering speeds in excess of 34 kilometers per hour, including centre-back and captain Wes Morgan.
Nottingham-born Jamaica international Morgan was 10th on the list, having reached a top speed of 34.76 km/h on the pitch.
The revelation that Morgan is one of the Premier League’s fastest footballers seems to make a mockery of his FIFA 16 stats – 48 for acceleration and 55 for overall sprint speed. For reference, Walcott was given 95 and 96 respectively in those categories.
As we are comparing FIFA 16 pace stats, Leicester striker Jamie Vardy, who, with a top speed of 35.44 km/h, has been the Premier League’s fastest player this season, is blessed with 89 acceleration and a sprint speed of 92.
The official Premier League website‘s player profile on Morgan says that the 31-year-old is 185cm in height and weighs 93kg (that’s over 14 and a half stones).
While some of you might think Morgan is rather on the heavy side for a sprinter, six-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt is 195cm and 94kg according to his topend sports profile.
If word of Morgan’s gas gets out, perhaps he and Bolt could be teammates in the 4 x 100m relay at next summer’s Rio Olympics?
Anyway, back to the subject of this top 10 list…
10. Wes Morgan, Leicester City – 34.76 km/h
9. Charlie Daniels, Bournemouth – 34.86 km/h
8. Carl Jenkinson, West Ham United – 34.89 km/h
7. Mame Biram Diouf, Stoke City – 34.97 km/h
6. Ritchie de Laet, Leicester City – 34.97 km/h
5. Victor Moses, West Ham United – 35.00 km/h

3. Billy Jones, Sunderland – 35.07 km/h
2. Jeffrey Schlupp, Leicester City – 35.26 km/h

So, there you have it! Morgan is the 10th fastest player in the 2015-16 Premier League. Bet he’ll never use his pace for anything as cool as this, though…
