Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere one of three players wanted by FC Barcelona in forthcoming transfer window.
FC Barcelona have a three man shortlist of midfielders to sign as long term replacements for Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta – and Arsenal star Jack Wilshere is one of them according to Spanish publication El Mundo Deportivo.
The other targets are Borussia Dortmund man Ilkay Gundogan and Atletico de Madrid ace Koke, and Barca will likely have difficulties enticing any of the three away from their respective teams.
Atleti will certainly not want to lose Koke to Camp Nou now that they are competing for the title in La Liga against Barcelona, and despite being currently sidelined through injury, Gundogan remains a vital cog in the Borussia Dortmund machine.
Arsenal too have no intention of selling Wilshere, with manager Arsene Wenger revealing that he hopes to build the Gunners side around the 21 year-old England international.
“He is a very important player here, you know,” said Wenger earlier this month.
“All my plans for the future at the club have always been built with Jack and around Jack.
“We had some setbacks with him – a lot – but he is a very important player in my squad.”
While the 33 year-old Xavi Hernandez only has limited time remaining at the highest level, unless one of the three players in question pushes for a transfer, FC Barcelona may struggle to sign any of Jack Wilshere, Ilkay Gundogan and Koke.
