The Brazilian ace has been on the fringes at the Stadio Olimpico under Stefano Pioli so far this season, coming off the bench in each league game with the likes of Ricardo Kishna favoured ahead of him.
However, he was handed his opportunity to prove that he deserved a spot in the starting line-up against Gian Piero Gasperini’s men, and although he was anonymous at times, he scored the decisive goal which secured all three points for the Biancocelesti.
Genoa ended the game with nine men after Issa Cissokho and Goran Pandev both saw red, but it was the former’s dismissal in the second half that opened up space down the Lazio left flank which allowed Anderson more time and space to have an influence.
According to talkSPORT, Manchester United had been interested in signing the 22-year-old after their failed bid for Pedro, but the Red Devils have since gone on to sign Anthony Martial from Monaco.
As a result, it remains to be seen whether or not Louis van Gaal will be looking at Anderson again any time soon, although that didn’t stop the Lazio star from producing a reminder of what he is capable of.
