Chelsea have today confirmed that Filipe Luis will be returning to Atletico Madrid in a permanent deal this summer.
The Brazil international made just nine Premier League starts in his debut campaign at Stamford Bridge, and with little hope of forcing Cesar Azpilicueta out of the starting line-up, he has opted to travel back to the Estadio Vicente Calderon – just a year on from his Blues transfer.
There had previously been reports suggesting that Filipe Luis could return to Atleti in a loan deal, as reported by the Daily Mail; however, Jose Mourinho has agreed to a permanent sale.

The Blues have not divulged on the transfer fee as yet, but it is expected that they will have recouped much of the £15.8m paid last summer.
Mourinho is likely to sign a replacement for the 29-year-old before the start of the new season, with FC Augsburg’s Abdul Rahman Baba heavily linked.
