Arsenal are reportedly hoping to beat Manchester United to the signature of Juventus target man Fernando Llorente.
The Metro claims that the Gunners are attempting to close in on the striker with a £5.6m bid.
Juventus are believed to be willing to part ways with the Spanish international after improving their forward line with the additions of Mario Mandzukic and Pablo Dybala this summer.
The 30-year-old provided a reliable scoring threat for Juve, netting 27 goals over the last two seasons. He also helped his team to the Champions League final and a third successive Serie A title in 2014-15.
Llorente previously spent nine seasons with Athletic Bilbao, for whom he scored 118 goals.
Arsenal are looking to upgrade up front, as they lack a consistent threat aside from Alexis Sanchez. Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema is thought to be their dream signing, but Llorente is a more attainable target
The Gunners will likely have to hold off United though, as they are also expected to sign a striker in this transfer window and have been linked with Llorente.
