England star could now finish his career with the Blues.
Chelsea may be about to offer veteran midfield player Frank Lampard a new contract to remain at Stamford Bridge next season, according to reports in the Daily Telegraph.
It had been expected that the 34-year-old would end his glittering career at Stamford Bridge this summer when Lampard’s current contract with the Blues expires, with the west London club having as yet refused to offer the player the new one-year deal that he was after.
However, with the England international having enjoyed yet another impressive campaign in the capital, hitting 13 Premier League goals in only 26 appearances to make it ten successive campaigns in which Lampard has netted ten or more top-flight goals, the club appear to have and a late change of heart.
All of which means that there now remains every possibility that Lampard, who is on the verge of equalling Bobby Tambling club-record 202 goals for the club, will now be able to see out his career at Chelsea next season after all.
