The 45th annual Pro Bowl is set to take place on Sunday, and this will mark the second year of the Pro Bowl consisting of rosters drafted by two NFL Hall of Famers instead of pitting the American Football Conference against the National Football Conference.
Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin and former Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Cris Carter were chosen to draft the two Pro Bowl rosters this season.
Irvin’s team will be coached by Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett while Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh will lead Carter’s team.
Team Carter will be led by players such as Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, Kansas City running back Jamaal Charles, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson and Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt. Watt and Brown will be the team captains.
For Team Irvin, there will be players such as Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo and running back DeMarco Murray, Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden, Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly and Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews. Murray and Haden will serve as the captains.
Notable omissions from the rosters include Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman, Seahawks safety Earl Thomas, Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant and Patriots cornerback Darrelle Revis.
Both rosters have incredible talent, but Team Irvin has the advantage of team chemistry since more than half of the Cowboys offensive starters are on the team.
However, Team Carter also has an advantage of their own with three of the Buffalo Bills’ defensive line starters on the roster in addition to better quarterback depth with Luck and Brees.
Prediction: Team Carter 38, Team Irvin 34
