He was expected to replace New Orleans Pelicans power forward Anthony Davis, who is sitting out with a shoulder sprain.
However, the reigning MVP will be replaced by Portland Trail Blazers power forward LaMarcus Aldridge.
Aldridge has been a consistent double-double machine for the Blazers in the past few seasons, and he currently averages 23.6 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.
Durant is likely being taken out of the starting lineup since he has not played the entire season because of a toe injury.
