Viola lead the race for German international striker.
Fiorentina have reportedly agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez, according to German media outlet Bild.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena this summer, with Pep Guardiola set to put his own tactical formation and personnel into place.
As a result, Gomez appears to be on his way out, and has been attracting interest from across Europe, including from the likes of Fiorentina and Napoli.
However, it appears the former have won the race to sign him having reportedly agreed on personal terms, although at this stage no deal exists between the two clubs.
Fiorentina are in the market to bolster their attacking options, as they deal with the reality that star Stevan Jovetic is likely to leave the club this summer.
The Montenegrin has been at the centre of transfer speculation since the season ended, with Juventus the most likely destination should he eventually quit the Viola, but with Arsenal also closely monitoring the situation.
The Italian champions won’t be able to sign him for anything less than €30m though, as Vincenzo Montella will hope to have as much financial backing as possible in his bid to strengthen the squad ahead of next season.
The Viola narrowly missed out on Champions League football last season, losing out to Milan on the last day of the season. However, they were widely praised for their style of football, and they will want to continue to build.
While Gomez’s agent moved to dismiss reports that his client had any agreements with any clubs, speculation in the German media is to the contrary as the Bayern star nears an exit to become the latest addition to an intriguing project in Florence.
