Agent had suggested striker was on the verge of move to Italy.
Fiorentina have suffered a blow in their bid to sign striker Mario Gomez, with Bayern Munich holding out for €20m for the German international.
It was understood earlier this week that the Viola were close to securing a move for the 27-year-old, as his agent revealed that a deal was imminent.
However, it would appear that Vincenzo Montella may have to wait a little longer to meet his new signing as there is now a differential in his valuation which may scupper the move.
According to Corriere dello Sport as reported by football-italia.net, Pep Guardiola is now holding out for €20m for the striker, despite having no plans to use him next season.
It is believed that Fiorentina are willing to pay up to between €15m-€18m for the prolific marksman, but that clearly now falls below the requested fee.
Gomez has attracted interest from across Europe this summer, with Chelsea also said to be monitoring his situation.
Having lost his place in the first-team to Mario Mandzukic last season, the arrival of Guardiola is expected to see him fall further down the pecking order. Despite initial statements suggesting that he will report to Bayern’s pre-season training as normal and continue at the Allianz next season, it appeared as though his days are numbered.
However, given the latest misunderstanding, it remains to be seen whether he will indeed complete a move to Florence this summer.
Fiorentina will have to either increase their bid to match Bayern’s valuation, or face losing out to their competition.
