Brazilian international expected to leave Loftus Road this summer.
Fiorentina have reportedly entered into talks with Arsenal target and QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar according to reports in Italy.
The 33-year-old stopper is widely expected to leave Loftus Road this summer following the club’s relegation to the Championship.
Having secured his place as Luiz Felipe Scolari’s number one at the Confederations Cup last month, it is understood that Cesar is eager to join a club in a high profile European league in order to hold on to his place ahead of the World Cup.
While it had appeared as though he was set for Napoli, negotiations broke down after the Partenopei asked the former Inter star to take a pay cut.
In addition, it was reported that Harry Redknapp is unwilling to allow Cesar to leave on a loan deal, and would much prefer to recoup some money for the ‘keeper in order to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.
According to Sky Sport Italia, as reported by Football Italia, Fiorentina are said to be keen on a permanent deal and have already entered talks with the Championship outfit.
Cesar’s agent has previously revealed that Arsenal remain a “concrete option”, but given the impressive nature of Fiorentina’s spending so far this summer, the Italian media believe that it could be enough to persuade the Brazilian to return to Serie A.
Having arguably been priced out of a move for Gonzalo Higuain who is expected to be unveiled by Napoli on Friday, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger will be determined not to miss out on another reported target this summer.
