Ray was caught Monday morning, and he failed to drive in the right lane of the highway he was driving on. His court date for misdemeanor possession is scheduled for June 30.
The draft is set to begin on Thursday. This can only be detrimental for Ray since he is already dealing with a foot injury, which may have already been enough to scare some teams away.
However, he will likely not need to undergo surgery on his foot.
The Missouri star can kiss his chances of being drafted in the top five goodbye though, and Nebraska’s Randy Gregory suddenly finds himself on an even playing field with Ray after failing a drug test of his own earlier.
The Pro Bowl potential for Ray is undeniable though, as he came up with 14.5 sacks in his final season at Missouri.
This makes it likely that Ray will still be drafted in the first round, but he will more than likely fall to the second half of the first round due to his lack of judgment and bad timing.
He is arguably the most talented defensive prospect in the draft not named Leonard Williams, who is expected by some to be drafted second overall by the Tennessee Titans.
