Could Blues make formation change to fit in new signing?
Read more Chelsea transfer rumours.
With the news that Chelsea look set to complete yet another superb summer signing with a deal to bring in Loic Remy from Queens Park Rangers, fanatix looks at how the Frenchman could fit into the starting XI at Stamford Bridge.
While there’s no question that Arsenal are far more in need of a striker than Chelsea, it looks as though the Blues are going to heap more misery onto their rivals by winning the race for Remy’s signature, with Jose Mourinho keen to bring in a third option upfront after agreeing to loan Fernando Torres to AC Milan.
Still, even if squad depth is important, it seems a shame to see a quality forward such as Remy left out of the team on a regular basis, so it may be that he could partner in-form front-man Diego Costa in a new-look lineup for Chelsea.
Goalkeeper and defence:
With the defence unchanged, Chelsea should continue to field four at the back with Branislav Ivanovic and Cesar Azpilicueta currently looking like being first choice at right-back and left-back respectively, with John Terry and Gary Cahill the two most likely options for the two centre-back positions. Behind them, Thibaut Courtois also looks like being number one ahead of Petr Cech, who may even leave the club on loan in another transfer deal at Stamford Bridge before the end of the summer.
