Midfield:
With a switch to a four-man midfield, Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic can continue the fine partnership that looks to be blossoming for Chelsea at the moment. Fabregas has excelled in this kind of role before during his days with Arsenal, and, along with Matic, is a player perfectly comfortable with doing the necessary defensive work as well as dictating the play of the game from a deeper-lying role.
Out wide, Andre Schurrle and Eden Hazard seem most likely to be the first choice wingers for Chelsea, and it shouldn’t take too much adaptation from either of them to play in a 4-4-2 instead of forming part of an attacking midfield three. The likes of Willian, Oscar and Mohamed Salah can also come in and fill these roles, giving the Blues plenty of options in the middle of the park despite a slight tactical change.
