We take a look at the five Arsenal players who could be following Nicklas Bendtner and Bacary Sagna out of the Emirates Stadium.
The busiest portion of Arsenal’s transfer business so far this season has been in an outward direction, with Nicklas Bendtner and Bacary Sagna both having left the club on free transfers already this summer – the latter joining Premier League rivals Manchester City.
It is unlikely that the end of the exodus from Arsenal is upon us, however, meaning that there will be further departures from the club this season, perhaps to help raise the funds to allow Arsene Wenger to rebuild his squad significantly.
With this in mind, we have taken a look at the Arsenal squad and picked out the five players most likely to be following Bendtner and Sagna out of the exit door at the club in the coming weeks as the summer ticks down to the closure of the transfer window.
1) Mikel Arteta
He may have been captaining the side, but reports recently have linked midfielder Mikel Arteta with a move to Athletic Bilbao as a replacement for Manchester United bound Ander Herrera.
Despite being a competent and reliable player, if Arsenal can recoup a significant fee from the Basque club and reinvest it in a younger, more dynamic holding midfielder then it could be good business by Arsene Wenger.
