Seahawks All-Pro CB Richard Sherman will gladly invite the Packers to take on their No. 1 ranked defense that shut down the best offense in NFL history in Superbowl XLVIII.
The NFL season opens on Thursday with the defending Superbowl champion Seattle Seahawks hosting the NFC North champion Green Bay Packers. It is certainly a game of opposites with the Packers-pass heavy offense throwing against the league’s best defense while the Seahawks and their running-game, led by Pro Bowler Marshawn Lynch look to take it to a defense that was in the bottom 10 last season.
It certainly will be a great game to watch and here are the reasons why the Thursday Night opening game is absolutely can’t miss:
5. Two Superbowl contenders collide – The Seahawks are the defending champions and the near-consensus favorite to get there again, or at least make a deep playoff run. The Green Bay Packers lost Aaron Rodgers for several critical games in 2013 that prevented them from earning a higher seed in the playoffs last year – they were eliminated in the Wildcard round by the 49ers – but not that he’s back and healthy as a horse, the Packers can once again try to assert themselves as one of the top contenders among a strong crop of NFC teams.
