Fanatix takes a look at the five young British talents who are set to move on to bigger things this summer.
With Southampton left back Luke Shaw having become the most expensive teenager football in history after his £30 million plus transfer to Manchester United this week, the stock of the young British football is as high as it is ever been, with clubs willing to shell out huge amounts to buy home grown potential.
Including Shaw, we have taken a look at five young British defenders who could be set for big moves this summer after fine campaigns last time around.
1) Luke Shaw (Southampton)
With Southampton teenager Luke Shaw’s transfer to Manchester United now having been confirmed, the England international becomes the most expensive player of his age ever to have been transferred.
The 18 year-old has also become the most expensive defender in history, putting a huge amount of pressure on the young man’s shoulders – although his performances for Southampton as such a young man suggest that he is able to cope with it.
If United have bought wisely then the fee could still end up looking like a snip, with a key position at Old Trafford possibly filled for at least the next decade.
