Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has continued his summer spending spree, with the Frenchman today completing the signing of right back Calum Chambers from Premier League rivals Southampton for a fee in the region of £16 million.
The fee represents a huge outlay for a teenager who has made little more than 20 senior appearances for the Saints, however, with even the Gunners boss himself admitting that the transfer was a risk.
There was plenty of cheaper options that Wenger could’ve explored if he wanted a cheaper right back to challenge Mathieu Debuchy, with these amongst the contenders.

Ivory Coast right back Serge Aurier was linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium all season, but he would eventually move to Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint Germain instead, on a loan deal that should lead to a permanent move.
