1) Cesc Fabregas (Barcelona to Chelsea)
Undoubtedly the signing of the summer so far, Chelsea have already done great work in bringing in Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona for around £30m. The Spanish playmaker, formerly of Arsenal, only spent three seasons back with his boyhood club before becoming one of several victims of a squad cull ahead of next year. After being placed on the transfer list, his old club Arsenal then turned down the chance to bring him back to north London, allowing him to make the move to Stamford Bridge. Despite not quite being at his best this season, Fabregas will surely improve under Jose Mourinho and may also relish the chance to be playing in the Premier League again. A great like-for-like replacement for Frank Lampard, it is hard to see the Blues regretting this signing, and he could be lining up alongside his fellow Spain team-mate Diego Costa next season as well, while Atletico Madrid left-back Filipe Luis is also believed to be another deal edging closer to completion for Chelsea. After a slightly disappointing season in 2013/14, Mourinho’s side have really made a statement of intent with their transfer business already.
