3) Manchester United (Three players, £56m)
Although Manchester United have also technically signed young goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic from FK Vojvodina, the bulk of their spending has actually been on two players, with big money being spent on both Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw.
Spanish midfielder Herrera was a top target for the club last summer, and eventually sealed a move for around £30m to Old Trafford this summer, later being joined by teenage left-back Shaw, who arrived from Southampton after also featuring for England at the World Cup in Brazil. These new faces have cost the club a combined fee of around £56m, and more signings are tipped to follow. Hardly a surprise considering United’s awful performances under David Moyes as they finished 7th last season.
