1. Romelu Lukaku
Jose Mourinho’s decision to send the Belgian on a second consecutive season-long loan – this time to Europe-chasing Everton, rather than mid-table West Brom – was questioned in the summer and Chelsea’s current crop of strikers have done little to suggest it was a good decision. Granted, if Chelsea win the league with Torres, Ba and Eto’o and Lukaku returns next season a better player, then Mourinho’s call will be justified but quite simply the powerful Belgian is better than the Blues’ currently trio. The 20-year-old looks certain to return to Stamford Bridge in the summer but, after two seasons of first team football, will not take kindly to being a sub.
